Laura Fatini lives and works in Tuscany. She graduated in political phylosophy at the University of Perugia. Her thesis was on Camus’s political theatre. At 17 she became the assistant of Carlo Pasquini, who is a director for the Cantiere Internazionale D’Arte of Montepulciano. She has been attending theatrical classes and workshops since then: among others a dramaturgy workshop led by Ugo Chiti, dance classes led by Grazia Galante and Giorgio Rossi, a directing workshop led by Beppe de Tomasi, a lighting engineering workshop led by Salvatore Mancinelli. At the same time, she worked with journalists Angela Levi Bianchini and Guido Ceronetti. For the latter she illustrated the book Ti saluto, mio secolo crudele (Einaudi, 2011). In 2010 and 2012 Laura Fatini led two self-storytelling workshops for migrant women as part of the European project Migrant Women. The two workshops resulted in a play titled Io non sono di qui (literally I’m not from here) which went on stage in Sarteano, Rome and Florence. They also led to a performance called ViolentaViolante played in Sarteano’s theatre.

Itaca, one of Laura’s scripts, has been published on the magazine Cosmopolis (n.2 – 2008). Laura also worked with the online French magazine BAT. Some of her articles are available on the website. In March 2015 another one of her scripts, Emily, was selected as a contest participant for UNO – fesival di monologhi teatrali di Firenze: a festival of monologues held in Florence. Emily won the award for best original script. In July, same year, Emily became part of the project Città (Cities) and debuted in Barcelona along with two other monologues, which were written by the Catalan director and playwright Angels Aymar. In the spring of 2016 Emily was played in Le Beausset and in La Seyn sur Mer (France). In May 2017 Città was chosen to be part of the First exhibit of alternative theatre at the Centre Cultural Sanglat in La Floresta (Barcelona). In August 2016, Laura worked as a theatrical teacher in the Erasmus+ project The Complete Freedom of Truth: she led a workshop in Bournemouth (UK) and worked with many artists among who there are Benji Reid and directors Raul Cordea and Petro Ionesco. In April 2017 she was artistic director and team manager for the final event of The Complete Freedom of Truth that took place in Sarteano.

In January 2017 Laura directed Dall’Inferno alla Luna’s national premiere (From Hell to the Moon). The author of the play Jean-Pierre Thiercelin was at the première. Laura also worked with him to publish some of his pièces in Italian.In April 2017 ETS (a publisher located in Pisa) published Un’utopia modesta. Saggio su Camus (an essay about Camus). Laura wrote the part about Camus’s theatre. In 2018 Laura is Giufà Project artistic director. The Giufà Project is an international project (Italy-UK-Portugal) about migration and multiculturality: she writes a new play (performed in Italy), works with portuguese composer Sara Ross and english painter Ella Squirrell.

In August 2018 she works as theatre teacher in Battle, during 2 weeks artistic workshops on Giufà in Battle (UK): there she works, amongst the others,  with Alister O’Lloughlin, a performance parkour and theatre teacher. Her theatre workshop in schools “Ecco Giufà, ecco Giufà” (progetto FMPS Atlantide-teatri sommersi) has been selected for the national meeting “Citizen and Diversity” in Florence (a meeting about social projects in schools).Since 2017 works with Rondine-Cittadella della Pace, as theatre teacher with Ulisse Project young peopleLaura is currently a member of the Nuova Accademia degli Arrischianti (Sarteano). She leads theatrical workshops for both adults and children and works with both professionals and amateurs companies.
